Smartick – Math Learning App My Kiddos Love!

Now that both of my boys are in school full-time (Kindergarten and 2nd grade), I’m always looking for ways that they can have fun learning. We all know that technology is huge and my boys are no different. They love watching TV, playing video games on the TV, using the iPad and using the laptop. When the weather is nice, it’s super easy to limit screen time because we are outside, but when school is in session and the weather is crappy outside, we spend a lot of time inside. So, if they are interested in technology, they may as well use it to learn right? Thankfully, my boys don’t complain about it either. When I was given an opportunity to review a math learning app called Smartick, I jumped at it!

We have tried a few apps before, but never found one that both my kids and I enjoyed…until Smartick!

Here is some information about Smartick (my favorite parts are in bold):

  • Smartick has been used by more than 32,000 students from 100 countries and is designed for children 4 to 14 years old.
  • Smartick is powered by the latest Artificial Intelligence technology: ability based, your child progresses at his or her own pace, building self-confidence, avoiding frustration, and developing a positive attitude to math.
  • Smartick is primarily used as an after school activity. Parents use our program as an alternative to Kumon, Russian School of Math, and other after-school programs.
  • 15 minutes a day approach: short daily sessions at maximum concentration. This helps create a study habit and routine, it avoids burnout and keep children motivated and coming back for more. Smartick recommendation is that children do their session at least 5 days a week to truly experience the benefits of the program.
  • Students work on mental calculation and algebra while also developing problem-solving and critical thinking skills. Smartick includes logic exercises that help children improve both in logical reasoning a reading comprehension.
  • Smartick does not follow the official curriculum or State standards. Smartick prepares your child to advance faster than in school and beyond what’s taught in the classroom. 94% of children improve their grades in school after only 2 months.
  • Gamification elements keep children engaged and improve concentration levels. All games in Smartick and scientifically designed to reinforce cognitive skills: perception, attention, memory and logical reasoning.
  • Parent’s dashboard: parents receive an email as soon as their child completes his or her session with a summary of that day’s performance. If they want to know more, they can log into the dashboard and see study plans, questions and units their child has answered, speed of resolution of each question and much more.

  • Smartick is an online learning method but there is a team of educators behind to answer any question parents or children may have. Families can reach out to us via phone, email or chat.

My boys actually ask me to do Smartick daily! I’m not even sure they realize they are sharpening their math skills. 🙂
