Dollar GeneralDollar General is Giving Overage on Coupons!

I have some exciting news for you Dollar General shoppers!! Apparently, Dollar General updated their coupon policy back in December, but it was just now brought to my attention. Dollar General is giving overage on coupons! This is exciting. Did you see this?

Dollar General coupon overage

Dollar General has followed Walmart and is now giving overage! So, if you have a coupon that is for more than the cost of the item, the overage will be applied towards the rest of your purchase. For example, you have a coupon for $3/2, you purchase two items, but they are only $1.00 each. You will have an additional $1 off the rest of your purchase.

Go HERE to see the complete coupon policy. And, since this is fairly new, I’m guessing most employees might not even know about it. Print a copy of the coupon policy or bookmark the page in your mobile device to have with you while you are shopping.

I did just that. I printed the policy and stood in the middle of my DG Market Store and pled my case to one cashier and one front end manager who was the lead at the time. In the end, I lost. Their words: We have a different policy than Dollar General Store, we are Dollar General Market. The pulled out a flyer board posted by the register stating no free items due to coupons. So….hmmm….yes of course I am contacting corporate about this to determine how valid it is….

    • I’m sorry you were having trouble, Shawna. I am not familiar with Dollar General Market stores. In fact, I just learned about them today. Please keep us posted on what you hear from their corporate office. I will be in touch with them as well.
