Bean Chowder

2 pounds hamburger (regular or coarse-ground)
1 large onion, chopped
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 can diced tomatoes (14.5 oz.) – Dillons has Hunt’s canned tomatoes on sale
1 can tomato puree (10 3/4 oz.)
3 cans pinto beans, drained (16 oz.)
1 1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
2 tablespoons + 1 teaspoon chili powder
1 1/3 cups water
