If you saw my post earlier today about two new features on Become a Coupon Queen, you will remember that the first new item are recipes! The second new item is documenting my weekly shopping trips for you (and allowing you to share yours). So, here’s a little more information about my weekly shopping and my recap of this week.

In an effort to hold myself accountable to our grocery budget, I started documenting my shopping each week on our family blog. And, now I’ve decided that I think it’s only fair I hold myself accountable to you, too!

My goal is to spend only $50 each week on groceries, household items, pet food/treats, and diapering items. You will see that, like your family probably, it varies from week to week. If I spend more one week, I try to spend less the next. Of course, I don’t have to spend $50 if we don’t really need anything, and from time to time I even try a no-spend week. Keep in mind that I don’t buy beef at the store because we buy a quarter beef each year. I also don’t buy many cleaning supplies (I have a new love with Norwex!). And, wouldn’t it be awesome if the diapering items were off that list soon, too?

So, each week I will post my shopping trips, and I would love for you to share yours!!

Here is this week (January 12-18):

Sam’s Club

Chicken Breasts @ $1.89/lb — $21.81 (This was for my freezer meal group. I’ll be posting about that soon!)

  • 3 boxes Krave S’mores (YUM!!) @ $2.94 each
  • 3 boxes Cinnamon Toast Crunch Chocolate @ $2.99 each
  • 2 boxes Market Pantry Chickadees @ $1.43 each

Coupons Used:

I did this in two transactions using the $5 Target Gift Card from one set of cereal towards the second transaction. I also realized when I got home that there is a 5% off General Mills cereals Target Cartwheel offer that I could have used.

My total out of pocket at Target was $10.61 and I saved $10.14! Plus, I still have a $5 Gift Card to use on my next trip and I got $0.50 in my ibotta account for buying a box of cereal.

We were in need of milk, and I wanted to take advantage of the diaper deal at CVS this week.

  • 3 Pampers Jumbo Pack Diapers $8.99
  • 1 Desitin Cream 2oz $3.00
  • 2 Gallons Milk $2.99

Coupons Used:

I got a $10 ECB back from the diapers. My out of pocket was $27.45 with my savings being $21.99.

My total for the week was $59.87 out of pocket with a savings of $32.13.

This is definitely not my best week – I went over my goal and my savings wasn’t great. But, I bought a lot of chicken (we even have some left over after I prepped my meals), and we are good on diapers for a little while.

How did you do this week? We’d love for you to share your shopping experiences with us, too!
