15 Books to Prepare Your Kids for Potty Training
Are you getting ready to start or in the middle of potty training? My boys are now 10 and (almost) 8, but I remember those days well. I may have been determined to get them trained, but we all know that it’s really up to the kiddo to decide. So, the more interested we get them and the more exciting we can make it for them, the easier it is! Books are a great way to do that so I created this list of 15 books to prepare your kids for potty training.
Potty (Leslie Patricelli board books)
P is for Potty! (Sesame Street) (Lift-the-Flap)
Too Big for Diapers (Sesame Street)
Dinosaur vs. the Potty (Board Book)
Duck Goes Potty (Hello Genius)
The New Potty (Little Critter) (Look-Look)
No More Diapers for Ducky! (Ducky and Piggy)
And more HERE!
If you have potty trained before, did you use a certain technique? How did it work for you? What would you do again? What would you skip?
When my oldest was in the beginning stages of potty training, he went to daycare all day and she set him on the potty at every diaper change once he was 18 months old. He was probably ready about the time my second son was being born, but I was definitely not ready for it so we waited. About six months later (just before he turned 3), we spent 2 days at home in underwear and set a timer for him to go potty. We slowly increased the time and he was trained pretty quick. My youngest will be three in May, and as I mentioned above, we are just getting started with him. Hopefully he will catch on quickly.
