Stitch Fix: Box #7 + What I Learned About Clothes Shopping!
If you’ve been with me for a while, you might remember when I was getting Stitch Fix and sharing my boxes each month. The last one was way back in October 2016. I didn’t plan on taking so much time off from it, but it just happened that way. My husband and I have a trip coming up next month to celebrate our 15th wedding anniversary so I thought it was the perfect time to get a box!
For this box, I requested comfy dresses that hit just above the knee, white capris, and denim shorts. My stylist (Britt) did a great job! She sent me two knit dresses, a mixed material tank top, denim shorts and white capris.
Here they are:
Both dresses were super comfortable and the perfect length for me although neither pattern feels like “me”. I also didn’t like that I couldn’t wear a regular bra with the Nine Britton dress. I have a couple strapless bras, but I rarely wear them because I just don’t like them. Do you see the small “fold” on the right side of the Nine Britton dress at my armpit. That’s because of the bra. So, if you have a strapless bra that you love, please share! Ooh. I almost forgot to mention that the Nine Britton dress has POCKETS! So cute!!
Unfortunately, I just didn’t see myself grabbing either of these or wearing them on our vacation so back they go.
When I opened the box, I was immediately drawn to the 41 Hawthorn Mixed Material Top! In fact, I thought it was the only piece I would keep. I tried a pair of Just Black jeans in one of my previous fixes, and they had a huge gap in the back. That led me to assume they would be a definite no, but I really liked them once I got them on. As for the Parker Smith Capri Skinny Jeans, I think they are too tight. They have some nice stretch, but I just don’t love how they look so those are going back, too.
Now comes the what I learned about clothes shopping part of this post…
I always try clothes on before I buy them, but I rarely see how they look from the back. Big mistake!
After initially trying on the clothes out of the box, I was fully intending to get the 41 Hawthorn top… until I looked at the back. 🙁
There is some super cute detail down the back of the top, but do you see how it’s pulling? Yeah, me, too. So sad!!
I didn’t feel it at all, but you can definitely see it in the pictures. I was so disappointed that I actually took multiple pictures to see if it was just how I was standing.
So…my advice – make sure you are able to see the front and back of outfits before you buy!
What did I keep?
You may have guessed it – that means I am keeping the shorts! These will be so nice to have this summer.
Remember, if you keep all five items, you get a 25% discount on your entire purchase.
