Stay Cool and Have Fun at Raging Waves – Illinois’ Largest Waterpark! {Giveaway!}
Does your family love to have fun? Need to cool off this summer?? Head to Raging Waves – Illinois’ Largest Waterpark located in Yorkville, Illinois. We have been wanting to visit Raging Waves since our oldest son started school a few years ago since they can earn a day pass for their reading, but we have never been able to make it work out. So, I was really excited to be contacted by Raging Waves to come check out the park, share my opinion with you all and be able to give away a package to one lucky reader!
My family headed North on Saturday and had a blast! We arrived just as the park opened at 10am. You can pay for Preferred Parking, but they also have FREE parking which is an awesome bonus! We found a parking spot right away and headed to Guest Services to get our passes for the day. The staff were very visible and super friendly.
The first thing I noticed was how clean the park was. Even though they had just opened, the park just felt fresh and new. We’ve been going to a different waterpark for the past couple years and last year I really felt like it could use some attention so this was a really nice change for us.
Our first stop once we were inside was to find our chairs for the day to put down our bag and towels. Since we had never been here, we weren’t sure where to sit. We ended up near the Great Barrier Reef Wave Pool (my oldest son’s favorite part) which worked out fine, but I think next time I would sit closer to the Kookaburra Kreek Lazy River entrance and Kangaroo Falls since we were in that area more. You can also rent a cabana!
Once we found our seats for the day, we headed over to pick up our tubes. Tube rental is extra and not necessary, but it did make things convenient. For example, with our rental tube, we didn’t have to wait for a tube on the lazy river. We could enter at any time with our tube while others were waiting for tubes to become available. Rental tubes can also be used in the wave pool (not between 12pm and 3pm) and on the Three Sisters Slides.
After checking out a few of the slides and one trip on the lazy river, it was time for lunch. On trips like I this I would normally pack our food to save a little money, but I was surprised to see that the prices were fairly reasonable and there was quite a variety of food options! Our day included a family meal pass of four hot dogs, four fountain sodas and a bucket ‘o fries which was perfect for us since my boys really just wanted to get back to the activity! Keep in mind that Raging Waves does not allow any outside food or beverage (with the exception of ONE factory sealed bottle of water) into the park however, you can return to your car to eat and re-enter the park.
My oldest son loved the wave pool, lazy river, and the Wild Wallabies slides while the Crocodile Mile and The Three Sisters slides were my youngest son’s favorites!
We stopped mid-afternoon for an ice cream treat then back to more slides, wave pool and lazy river action before heading home for the night.
Does this make you want to go??
It sure makes me want to go back again.
