Disclaimer: Our family received a half dozen order of pumpkin donuts as well as activity and corn maze passes in exchange for our honest review of Rader Family Farms.
Fall just calls for a trip to a pumpkin patch, am I right? We are so blessed in Central Illinois with Rader Family Farms. They are a wonderful, family run operation open early September through October each year. Not only are they open for the public to visit, but they also have great field trip opportunities. My boys have been there during Kindergarten and 2nd grade. The 2nd graders have a program called “Sowing Seeds in 2nd” which teaches them that everything they need to make a pizza is grown on the farm.
When you visit Rader’s, there are lots of activities for all ages included in your general admission! Here are just some of my kids’ favorites:
- Jumping Pillow
- Duck Races
- Double Barrel Chute
- Rat Rollers
- Barnyard Ball Throw
- Pedal Power Trikes
- Tractor Tire Swing
- Corny Bins
- Corn Ball
You can also try your hand at the Apple Blasters/Slingshots and the Corn Mazes for an additional fee.
Love to pick your own pumpkins? You can do that, too! Or, they have a variety of colors and sizes already picked and available for purchase.
And, you can’t visit the pumpkin patch without taking “growth” pictures!
Or getting pumpkin donuts!
