I got to try this out and gave it to my 13-year-old daughter. She LOVED it. She received the book The Davenports. This book is the story of the tale of four determined and passionate young Black women discovering the courage to steer their own path in life – and love. The Davenports are one of the few Black families of immense wealth and status in a changing United States, their fortune made through the entrepreneurship of William Davenport, a formerly enslaved man who founded the Davenport Carriage Company years ago. Now it’s 1910, and the Davenports live surrounded by servants, crystal chandeliers, and endless parties, finding their way and finding love—even where they’re not supposed to.

This is a book she wouldn’t normally have bought but she REALLY liked it. She told me she was so glad this subscription exposed her to books she probably wouldn’t buy otherwise.

Not only did she love the book but she was SO excited about the surprise gifts! She always pushes herself to read but this just gave her extra incentive because you can’t open the gifts until you reach the marked pages!

There were 3 gifts included with this book. The first was a necklace. It’s gorgeous, and my daughter absolutely loved it.

The second gift was a jewelry box. My daughter’s actually been needing one of these, and I love that this one is compact enough so it’s great to take on trips.

And, the third gift was a book cover that resembled a book the characters in the book read.
