Teeth Whitening Results with Smith Brilliant + Giveaway Ending Soon!
A few years ago, my dentist asked me the following question:
“If there was anything you could change about your teeth, what would it be?”
My first and immediate response is that I would even out and lose the small gap at the bottom of my front two teeth.
I know, I know, it’s super minor but it does sometimes bother me. Although, not enough to actually do anything about it.
My second response?
I’d love to have whiter teeth.
At the time, I didn’t do anything more. I continued on with my normal dental care routine – flossing and brushing regularly with “whitening” toothpastes. I guess I just wasn’t ready to put the effort or money into a teeth whitening program. I have never smoked, don’t drink coffee and only have dark sodas on occasion. My teeth weren’t “that” bad.
But when I was given the opportunity to try a teeth whitening treatment, I was super excited!
Smile Brilliant sent me a package in the mail (shown above) filled with everything I needed to get started. The first step is creating your impressions so that the trays can be made to fit your mouth. This was definitely the most interesting part. You have to mix the base and catalyst which feel like putty, put it in the blue tray, put the tray in your mouth and leave it there for three minutes! Have you ever tried doing something for three minutes when you can’t really do anything else? It felt like the longest three minutes ever and let me tell you…you will want to stay in your bathroom or near a sink for this part. There was all kinds of drool! LOL! Honestly, I couldn’t stop laughing which probably made it way worse. But, I made it!
And, if three minutes wasn’t enough, you get to do it twice! haha!
After you make your impressions, you send them both off in a pre-paid envelope and wait for your customized whitening trays to arrive.
When your trays arrive, the fun begins! I love documenting changes, so I highly suggest taking before pictures like this one.
Did you know that the average person will only need 7-14 daily applications to remove all stains from their teeth?
Applications can last from 45 minutes to three hours depending on how much time you have and what your teeth can handle. You will want to whiten after you are done eating for the evening and just before bed. Be sure to leave yourself an additional 20 minutes for the desensitizing gel step!
I tend to be a nighttime snacker so this was a great way to control my snacking at night, too. Once I had a final snack, I brushed my teeth with water, filled the tray with a thin line of whitening gel and put the tray in until about 30 minutes before bedtime. My schedule changes often so it was a bit difficult for me to find a consistent routine with whitening, but I’m still super happy with the results.
If you have sensitive teeth, you will want to start with just 45 minutes and see how you response. I didn’t have any sensitivity issues so I was able to use the trays for a couple hours if I had time. You will also want to avoid consuming coffee, tea, dark colored soda, red wine, berries, candy, red sauces, beets, chocolate or any other foods that have a propensity to stain your teeth for 24 hours after a teeth whitening session. This will help your whitening process!
After just seven (very spread out) sessions, here are my results:
