Save Time and Money with a Stress-Free Gift Closet
Is buying Christmas presents overwhelming on the pocketbook and with all the busy-ness of the holidays? How about the unexpected presents you need throughout the year – kid’s birthday parties, housewarming parties, items for donation, etc.? Sure, you can set aside money every month for planned and unplanned presents, but have you thought about creating a gift closet? You can build your gift closet all year long to save you time and money and make gift giving stress-free!
All you have to do is check out the clearance sections in the stores you shop or order the hot and cheap deals you see posted here on Become A Coupon Queen! Then, find a place to keep them in your home and “shop from there”. There are no extra shopping trips or time spent contemplating what to get someone. Plus, you are getting gifts at their best prices.
I’ve always picked up things (mostly toys) I have seen for at least 50% off on clearance, but now I’m doing it even more! Now that my oldest son is in school, we have quite a few kid birthday parties and buying gifts all the time can get super expensive. Even if you only spend $10-$15 per child, it really adds up. So, our gift closet is being stocked and used even more. Do your kids like to pick out the gifts for their friends? Let them help you! They can browse the clearance racks at stores with you, and they can shop from the closet!
One of my favorite ways to score gifts at rock bottom prices is to shop the after Christmas sales. I’ve gotten gifts for up to 75% off!
In addition to birthday parties, I like to grab things I see that would be good for Easter baskets, stocking stuffers, Christmas presents, donation (think Toys for Tots, Salvation Army, etc.) or as rewards for extra good behavior for the kids.
Once you plan to start your gift closet, the biggest thing to think about is where you are going to store all the great deals you score. I have my gift closet in my closet. I have bins for smalle items, and I add gifts I buy throughout the year. I’m usually done well before the holidays with all my Christmas shopping! If you don’t have space in your closet, you could store them under your bed, on the top shelf in any closet, or in your basement. Just don’t forget where you put them! Then, when that birthday invitation or house warming invite shows up in the mail, just visit the gift closet to pick out your gift!
