Hall Closet Makeover – From Closet to Lockers!
Looking to make your closet space more effective? Keep reading to learn about our Hall Closet Makeover!
After living in our house for a few years, I started to notice that our coats and daily mail/paperwork would pile up at the kitchen table or on the kitchen counters. We rarely used our hall closet to actually put stuff away. See the bags and coats hanging on the door knobs and laying on the floor?
And, the stuff we had in the closet was either not being worn or just thrown in there because there was no place else to put it.
So, I went searching on Pinterest and saw a few pictures of people turning their closets into a locker or cubbie system. I was excited, but a little nervous that I might not like everything exposed. For that reason, we actually held onto the doors and left the track for the doors on the door frame.
But, it turns out that I LOVE it!! Coats are no longer at the kitchen table, shoes are tucked down below, and miscellaneous items are above each cubbie along with games or other items on the top!
My husband actually make the transformation happen. He bought all the boards at Menards, painted them, and then cut them and installed it. We added three sets of hooks for coats and bags in each cubbie. I had the baskets you see already in the house. I only had two though, and they were too big for the end cubbies. I still want to find something that will work in each of the areas.
So, what do you think? If you have kiddos, I highly recommend this system as they can put their own coats and shoes away every time you walk in the door.
