Stranger Things Filming Locations
We love visiting locations where our favorite movies and TV shows were filmed. And, since we live in Georgia, the Hollywood of the South, there are lots of places to visit – especially near us since we’re only about an hour from Atlanta.
One of our favorite TV shows is Stranger Things, so we visited some of the Stranger Things Filming Locations near us. We plan to hit up more that are south of Atlanta when we head out for our vacation this summer.
Hawkins Police Department
We spent a day in Douglasville, Georgia, where some outside building shots (and we think interior arcade and video store shots) were taken. Our first stop was the Hawkins Police Department, located at 6755 Church St.
The Palace
Then, we headed a few blocks away to The Palace, the arcade where the kids hang out. It’s located at 6500 Church St. This was an old laundromat that was transformed into an arcade for the show, the paint was left so it was very easy to spot!
Family Video
Next door to the arcade is Family Video, where Steve and Robin apply for jobs at the end of Season 3. The name Family Video is still on the door, which was super cool. I love it when productions leave bits from the show like that behind.
Benny’s Burgers
Our last stop in the Douglasville area was Benny’s Burgers. This is actually a restaurant called Tiffany’s Kitchen and is located at 413 Lee Rd. in Lithia Springs.
We had to take a picture of the side door where Eleven entered the building.
Hopper’s Cabin
This is where it gets even MORE fun! The cabin actually used as Hopper’s cabin in the show is an escape room – Escape Woods at 628 Sleepy Hollow Rd. in Powder Springs. That means we actually got to go in and really check out out – so freaking cool! We beat the escape room with 7 minutes to spare but, really, all I could focus on was being in Hopper’s cabin.
Right down the hill from the cabin is the field where the hole was dug to get into the Upside Down. And, the woods there are where the Upside Down was filmed in season 1.
It was so cool getting to sit on Hopper’s recliner!
My daughter found a box of Eggos in the freezer, of course!
But, the highlight for her was seeing Eleven’s room! It looked just like the show, and the radio played great 80s jams.
And, of course, we had to take a picture of our daughter in Eleven’s room with the door open 3 inches, per Hopper’s rules.
A friend of ours brought red liquid lipstick so we could give my daughter a nose bleed just like Eleven gets when she uses her powers. Of course, she had to put on Eleven’s plaid shirt!
I thought I got a full shot of Eleven’s room but I didn’t. I did, however, get shots of the living room and kitchen.
We will be visiting some more Stranger Things filming locations in the next few months, so we’ll update this post then! Check out the Online Shopping Deals we’ve posted, too.
